LG jumps into the ring with Kindle & iPad in e-reader melee
LG has shown off some innovative technology for e-readers like solar power, but hasn’t gotten a device to market yet. According to reports, they will join the e-reader marketplace with a new device due to arrive at the same time as Apple’s iPad.
The new e-reader is set to debut in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) in April. Their CEO for MEA KW Kim didn’t exactly say that the product is an e-reader. He only said that “[the product] will compete with Apple and Amazon.” The only other thing that Amazon makes besides the Kindle seems to be money.
LG’s concentration on the MEA market instead of other e-reader hotspots is no fluke. North America and Europe have been hammered with advertisements, announcements, and public fights from publishers in the past year. In addition, the cell phone industry is booming in the targeted areas which should help in any content delivery program like that of Amazon’s deal with Sprint.
Apple hasn’t revealed who manufactures the display for the iPad but many believe that it’s either LG or Innolux. KW Kim would only say that the company received a “global order” for the display used in the iPad.

LG’s tablet may have what the iPad lacks, namely Flash. Flash is available on the Symbian OS that is used on many LG phones but is noticeably absent from the iPhone OS. That means that iPhone users won’t see Flash based video or interactive advertisements. According to reports, Symbian is modifying their graphical layout and user interface after going open source this month.
The addition of a Flash player of any sort may be an attractive selling point for e-reader buyers looking for a feature rich product. They could watch video on sites like Hulu or check out the latest news from the BBC. Unless they have something brewing in their swank research and development labs, Apple may be in for a spring awakening.

Hmm this would be interesting, but I doubt LG would be a serious competitor to Apple or even the Kindle. Since the LG Tablet is going to be released in Middle East and Africe, I would say it would be more cheaply priced then the Kindle or the iPad. Article Bookmarked.
for all tablets, but its best for the iPad for you, your kids, parents, basicaly, its for everyone

I am set to receive notification once the iPad launches, and will accept new orders. At that time I will order the 64 GB version with S3 connectivity (I have to wait another 30 days in order to be able to get S3). True, version "last" will eventually be the best version just before it becomes totally obselete, and many are set to wait for v2, but not me. The iPad is what it is. A manufacturer cannot wait until all the desirable bells and whistles have been incorporated. But everything considered, I think the iPad has a lot to offer as announced, and I will wait for Flash if the industry doesn't first come up with software to do the same thing without the Adobe product. And an iSight camera, which obviously they pulled from the V1 product, as the space to install one is there, and in fact an iSight camera from the MacBooks fits in that that place perfectly, leaving only the software to support it. True it faces backwards to the operator as do all iSight cameras in order to support video conferencing. But I assume you could use it the other way just by aiming the iPad outwards, instead of towards the user. But frankly, a quality digital camera or camcorder should perform much better than an equivalent iPhone or any mobile camera could possibly do if you are just taking pictures of things nearby.
I plan on a 3 year period maximum for any of my computers (I have seven), after which I discard my oldest, and let my new acquisition take over 1st place. Often I do this at yearly intervals when some new thing attracts me, like the iPad has done. So it won't bother me to get a v2 iPad a year later, but in this case I will just pass my older iPad along to one of my seven grandchildren that I select.
